Two roads. One destination.
Every WhatsApp marketing vendor will tell you their method is the right one — because it's the only one they sell. We sell both. So here is the comparison nobody else has any reason to write.
QR-based software is cheap and instant, but carries real ban risk. The Official Cloud API is safe and verified, but costs more per message. Which one you need depends entirely on your business — and this page will help you decide honestly.
QR Method
Desktop software that connects to your number by scanning a QR code, exactly like WhatsApp Web.
- One-time licence — no monthly fees, ever
- Running in under ten minutes, no approval needed
- No per-message charges at any volume
- Built-in lead extraction from Google Maps
- Carries a genuine risk of number bans
Official Cloud API
Your number registers directly with Meta's approved infrastructure — the same system large brands use.
- Meta-approved — no ban risk
- Eligible for verified business status
- Multiple agents can work one number together
- Charged per conversation, rates vary by country
- Requires setup and a payment method
QR-based WhatsApp marketing software
QR method software works the way WhatsApp Web works. You open a desktop application, it shows you a QR code, you scan it with the WhatsApp app on your phone, and the software is now connected to your number. From there you can send bulk campaigns, extract leads, and set up automatic replies.
The reason this approach is so widely used comes down to economics. A one-time licence costs less than a single month of most subscription platforms, and there are no per-message fees no matter how much you send. For a business testing whether WhatsApp marketing works at all, that is a very different risk profile than committing to a recurring contract.

The risks, stated plainly
We sell this software. We would still rather you buy it understanding exactly what you're getting than have you discover the limitations afterwards.
- This is not the official WhatsApp API. It works through third-party libraries, which places it outside WhatsApp's Terms of Service.
- Numbers can be banned. Sending too fast, sending too much, or accumulating spam reports from recipients can result in a permanent block.
- No verified business badge. To your customers, your number appears as an ordinary personal number.
- WhatsApp updates can break things temporarily. When WhatsApp changes its systems, some features may stop working until a software update ships.
- Your phone must stay online. Like WhatsApp Web, the connection depends on your handset being connected.
How to keep the risk low
- Warm a new number gradually over two to four weeks before any bulk campaign.
- Stay under 500–1,000 messages per day, per number.
- Use randomised delays of 20–40 seconds between messages.
- Message only contacts who have opted in to hear from you.
- Include a clear opt-out instruction in every message.
- Personalise messages rather than sending identical text to everyone.
- Never run bulk campaigns from your primary business number.
The Official WhatsApp Cloud API
The Official API is Meta's own approved solution. Your number is registered directly within Meta's infrastructure, which removes ban risk entirely. When you receive a verified message from a bank, an airline or a large retailer, this is the system delivering it.
Our platform at wamarketingsoft.cloud gives you Official API access without the usual technical setup — no token generation, no Meta App configuration.
How the API actually works
Connect and verify your number
Starting with a fresh number is cleanest. If you want to use an existing number, you must first delete the WhatsApp account attached to it, then connect it to the API.
Messaging limits and credits
In our experience, a newly verified number typically begins at around 250 conversations. As usage quality holds up, that tier moves to 2,000 and continues scaling upward in stages.
Verified business portfolio
A verified business portfolio raises your limits considerably faster. It is not mandatory — the API works without verification — but tier increases take longer.
Add a payment method
A payment method is required, since Meta bills message costs directly based on your usage.
Assign your team
Multiple team members can be assigned to a single API-connected number, so sales and support can handle customer conversations together — something QR method software cannot do.
Launch campaigns
With setup complete, you can run template messages, broadcasts and automated flows at scale.

Questions and answers
What is WhatsApp marketing software?
It's software that lets businesses send bulk messages, automate replies, manage contacts and run campaigns on WhatsApp at a scale manual messaging cannot support. It comes in two forms: QR-based desktop software that connects like WhatsApp Web, and Official Cloud API platforms approved by Meta.
Can QR-based software get my number banned?
Yes, and we won't pretend otherwise. Because it isn't the official API, sending too aggressively or receiving spam reports can result in a ban. Staying under 500–1,000 messages daily, using 20–40 second delays, and messaging only opt-in contacts reduces that risk substantially.
What's the difference between the API and WhatsApp Web based software?
WhatsApp Web based software connects via QR scan and runs on your own machine — one-time cost, no official approval. The Cloud API registers your number directly with Meta, removing ban risk and enabling verified status, but charges per conversation and requires a payment method.
How many messages can I send on the Official API?
In our experience a newly verified number starts around 250 conversations, moves to 2,000 as quality ratings hold, and continues scaling in tiers. A verified business portfolio raises these limits considerably faster.
Do I need a new number for the API?
A fresh number is easiest. If you want to use an existing number, delete the WhatsApp account attached to it first, then connect it to the API.
What does the Official API cost per message?
Rates vary by country and Meta revises them periodically, so we don't publish figures that would go stale. Check Meta's official pricing documentation, or search "WhatsApp API message price" with your country name for current rates.
Can multiple team members use the same number?
On the Official API, yes — that's one of its main advantages. Several agents can be assigned to one number and handle conversations together. QR method software doesn't support this properly.
Can I extract leads from Google Maps?
With WA Sender, yes. Its Google Maps extractor pulls business names, phone numbers, addresses and websites in bulk. The Official API has no lead extraction capability — it only sends and receives messages.
Is this worth it for a small business?
For most, yes. A one-time QR method licence costs less than a single month of most subscription platforms, which makes it a low-risk way to find out whether WhatsApp marketing works for you before committing to per-message API costs.
Can I use both methods together?
Absolutely, and many businesses do. QR software for lead generation and cold outreach, Official API for order updates and important customer conversations. It balances cost against credibility sensibly.
